Hyundai Elantra: Rear Axle Assembly. Rear Hub - Carrier / Repair procedures
[Rear disc brake type]
1. | Loosen the wheel nuts slightly. Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported. |
2. | Remove the rear wheel and tire (A) from the rear hub. Tightening torque : 107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb-ft) |

| Be careful not to damage the hub bolts when removing the rear wheel and tire (A). |

3. | Remove the rear brake caliper. (Refer to Brake System - "Rear Disc Brake") |
4. | Loosen the screw and the remove the rear break disc (A). Tightening torque : 4.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.5 - 0.6 kgf.m, 3.6 - 4.3 lb-ft) |

5. | Disconnect the rear wheel speed sensor connector (A). |
6. | Remove the hurb bearing assembly after loosening the hurb bearing mounting bolts (A). Tightening torque : 49.0 - 58.8 N.m (5.0 - 6.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 43.4 lb-ft) |

7. | Separate the backing plate and extra bracket after loosening the mounting bolts. Tightening torque : 2.0 - 2.9 N.m (0.2 - 0.3 kgf.m, 1.4 - 2.2 lb-ft) |

[Rear drum brake type]
1. | Loosen the wheel nuts slightly. Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported. |
2. | Remove the rear wheel and tire (A) from the rear hub. Tightening torque : 107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb-ft) |

3. | Disconnect the rear wheel speed sensor connector (A). |
4. | Loosen the screw and then remove the rear drum brake (A). Tightening torque : 4.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.5 - 0.6 kgf.m, 3.6 - 4.3 lb-ft) |

5. | Loosen the hub mounting bolts and then remove the hub (A) from the torsion beam. Tightening torque : 49.0 - 58.8 N.m (5.0 - 6.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 43.4 lb-ft) |
|
1. | Check the hub for cracks and the splines for wear. |
2. | Check the brake disc for scoring and damage. |
3. | Check the rear axle carrier for cracks. |
4. | Replace only the sensor cap when the warning light turns on due to a defective sensor cap of the hub bearing. (Refer to Brake System - "Rear Wheel Speed Sensor") |

Function malfunction
